Hello.

I am a decendant from two McElroy lines from Boyle. ( Tinnecarra and Kiltycreaghtan.)

My grandfather was David McElroy, Son of George & Catherine McElroy, born 13 Aug 1876 and baptised 7 Dec 1876 in the Church Of Ireland, Boyle. His parents, George and Catherine were cousins.

My grandmother was Ellen McElroy, Daughter of William McElroy & Bridget (Cryan) McElroy, born about 1884.  My grandparents, David & Ellen, were also cousins.

I believe that my grandfather's grand parents were Adam & Mary McElroy on his father's side and George & Elizabeth McElroy on his mother's side.

I believe that my grandmother's grandparents were William & Jane McElroy on her father's side and James Cryan & Honor (Beirne) Cryan on her mother's side.  I do not know what Jane's maiden name was.

With all the cousins in play, I believe that there is a common ancester. I would appreciate a reply from anyone who knows the geneology of the McElroys from Boyle (Kiltycreaghtan and Tinnecarra)

Best Regards,

David Latham Jr,

  • Hi

It might be helpful to post as much information as you possibly can regarding your ancestors - information such as -

Did any of your relatives emigrate? - ? Do you know much about their emigration? Dates, the reason why they left, etc.?  Generally more information was given at the port of arrival rather than the port of departure. If you knew which city they arrived at (e.g. Liverpool), this could be a good place to find more information.  and assist others in making a connection with you.

The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.

For further assistance you might try contacting one or more of the following:
