I am searching for William Fraser who was a Lieutenant with the 3rd Indian Regt and he served in Barbados, West Indies. Born c1780, County Cork married a Mary Thompson b. c1783 County Cork. William and Mary had 6 children, William b. c1818, John b.c1820, Cork, Catherine b. c1823, Cork, Richard, b.c1829, George b. c1832, Creagh, Cork, Mary b.c1833. In 1835 the family came to Australia settling in Port Macquarie, New South Wales. William, Mary and their son Richard died and are buried in Port Macquarie. George died in Queensland. John, Mary and Catherine all died in Sydney, New South Wales and were all unmarried. William married in 1873 but died  one year later. No issue from William's marriage. Looking for any information on the family, their parents and ancestors in Ireland.

Regards, Margaret

  • Dear Margaret

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I don?t see any records for a William and Margaret marriage on rootsireland.ie or irishgenealogy.ie. Records for the Civil Parish of Creagh/RC Parish of Skibbereen begin in 1814 for baptisms and 1837 for marriages so for any baptism or marriage event before this time there will not be a parish record. There are some Fraser baptisms on irishgenealogy.ie but none seem relevant.

There is a Tithe Applotment (1823-1837) record for a William Fraser in 1833 but is would be difficult to know if this is your William or not:

Have you tried searching Ancestry.com for any mention of your ancestor?s name in member family trees or messages?

    Best wishes
