I am planning a visit to Ireland next year and hoping to visit the lands of my Irish ancestors . One of my ancestors , Bridget Mary Cooney married James Hughes and arrived in Australia in 1879.
Bridget was born in about 1835 and her parents were Thomas Cooney and Mary Anne Cuffe. I believe they were married in 1831 in Stokestown .
I would love to know if these families live on in the area .

The subscription site Roots Ireland has a February 14 1831 marriage in Strokestown between Thomas Cooney and Nancy Cuffe. Nancy would be a variant for Anne. The only baptismal record I can locate is for an Eleanor Cooney July 18 1844 father Thomas and mother Anne Cuffe. Likely after the marriage the family was living in a nearby parish that does not have records back to the 1830s and then they moved back to Strokestown in 1844. I did not locate a Bridget Cooney/James Hughes marriage record in Roscommon.
