Hello all and thank you. I am at a brick wall with my Peter Sharkey who is my 2x grandfather (1830's- 1879). There are several possible Sharkey lines that I have found, but not sure which Peter Sharkey is my Peter Sharkey. He married a Margaret Harrington, but I can't find their church or civil records. I can only find three children, but it was during the famine and the records were burned in the Dublin fire so there probably are more. The children I found are: John b 14 SEP 1842, Winifred b 1 JUL 1849, and Bridgit/Brigid b 25 JUL 1851. All three children were born at Elphin parish. Bridget is my great grandmother.
I am believe that Peter's mother was a Rose Mulvihill- Bracklon b 30 MAR 1809 - Elphin parish. I do not have concrete proof of this, just a feeling. I am hoping to find information on who Peter's siblings were as well as his parents. All the birth records for Peter's children show Carrgeennagoppel (sp) as the address.
Thanks for having a look.
Warm regards,
Jacinta

Jacinta:
Civil registration of RC marriages did not begin until 1864. Here is the link to the Elphin parish register https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0556 It appears there are no Elphin marriage records from 1831-1863. FYI Catholic church records were not destroyed in the 1922 Dublin fire. More likely, the records were misplaced/lost at the local level at some point and are not available.
I searched on the subscription site Roots Ireland and found the three baptismal records you listed. I only saw one location on the three records. Mantua was shown on the Winifred record.
Regarding Peter Sharket, I found an August 26 1813 baptismal record in Elphin for a Peter Sharket. with father Peter and mother Mary Cranne. The place location was Mantua the same as on the Winifred record.

Hi Roger, thank you for checking!! I saw the birth recorded for 1813 with Mary Crane as his mother. I’m thinking he was married previously. Many thanks,
Jacinta
