Thomas Kenny and Catherine Corcoran baptized their children in the Roman Catholic parish of Boyle.  They raised them in Skeanavart.  Their son, Michael, who was baptized in 1843, is my great-grandfather.  Michael Kenny married Catherine Sweeny in 1872.  I would like to connect with other descendents of Thomas Kenny and Catherine Corcoran.  I live near Chicago in the United States.

  • I have a family tree written by my grandmother who was a "Kenny" that might help you out a bit. My great grandfather "John Asicus Kenny" (born March, 24th 1890 Elphin Roscommon) was the son of Michael Kenny (Boyle Roscommon) and Catherine Sweeney (Strokestown Roscommon). John Kenny was one of 15 children. There are a few blank names that my grandmother could not fill in. Above Michael's name there is the surname "Corcoran" with a blank next to it. I'm guessing this is Catherine who married Thomas Kenny (another blank). I also have a name "Bernard Kenny" at the top for Thomas Kenny's father. Michael also had two brothers Pat (Packey) lived in Dublin and never married. And Bernard (maybe moved to Canada?) Michael, Bernard, and Pat had a stone quarry as well as horses and a farm. Apparently the stone that built the Elphin Chruch. They also bred and raced horses. I'm assuming you are a grandchild of one of the 15 children of Michael Kenny. Which family member would that be because I have a list of names that I could update.

My great grandfather came to America in the early 1910s. He married a Mary Bridget Gannon (Molly) born 1901 from Elphin Roscommon. They had 4 children my grandmother Mary Theresa Bernadette KENNY who married a Charles Oliver Andrew O'Brien who had 7 children. I am her granddaughter Jessica. Nice to meet you!

  • Jessica, It is wonderful to hear from you!  My grandmother was Mary Ann (Molly) Kenny who was just a little older than your great grandfather, John Kenny. I have a picture of the two of them together but it is too many megabytes to attach to this post.  I would be glad to share it with you through email.  My grandmother married Cornelius O'Neill and my father, Edward Thomas O'Neill was their oldest son.  My father was born and died in Coalinga, California.  He had a brother, Cornelius Kenny O'Neill and a sister, Mary Ann O'Neill who are also deceased.

Using the list of brothers and sisters that my grandmother, Molly, remembered, I searched parish and civil records and only came up with 14.  They are Mary Kate, born 6 Dec 1872, Mary Jane born  21 March 1874, died April 1883, Thomas, born 13 sept 1875, Catherine, born 20 Oct 1876, Patrick Joseph born 27 Dec 1877, Bedelia (Delia) born 28 Jan 1879, died 13 May 1950, Teresa Mary (Tessie) born 2 May 1880 and married Edward Nulty and died 6 Sept 1949: Tillie born abt 1884, Michael born abt 1885, Daniel born abt 1887, Mary Ann (Molly) born 11 Nov 1887 and died 17 Nov 1961, Bernard born abt 1889, John Asicus and James born abt 1893.   Does your list of 15 include a name my list doesn't?  I also have a copy of a picture taken in about 1910 that includes my grandmother, Molly, Delia, Tessie and two of their brothers but I not sure which two.  I would be happy to share that picture too.  Maybe you can help with which two brothers are in the photo.

My research of the records of Boyle parish in County Roscommon shows that Michael Kenny son of Thomas and Catherine, had two sisters, Maria and Johanna.

I live near Chicago. Where do you live, if you mind me asking?
