My husband's great grandmother was Anne Kelly. She was born in Ardnaglug in about 1873. She emigrated to the US, and settled in Boston. Her brother, Martin, and sister, Rose, also emigrated to Boston.
Anne married Michael J. Kelley, from Dublin, in Boston. He was a stone mason, and helped build Boston College. They thirteen children, nine of whom survived. They had 19 grandchildren, 18 stayed in the Boston area.
Martin was a funeral director and had five children.
Rose married but had no children.
Elizabeth stayed in Ardnaglug. She had a daughtet Bridget, who married a McKeon. Bridget's daughter, Rosaleen, married a Mitchell. I have some information, but my mother-in-law lost contact with the family when Rosaleen's letters stopped coming, presumably because she died.
I would be interested in any information about Elizabeth, and where she is buried. I also believe her parents were dead at the time the other children emigrated to the US. I am interested in any information on the parents.

Ellen:
Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!
I think I located the family in the 1901 and 1911 censuses. In 1901, the transcriber made a mistake and showed the surname as Helly. Bridget was not with the family in 1911 and the ages for Elizabeth and Patrick appear to be understated. Also, it appears that there were nine children based on the 1911 census. Not sure about what cemetery. I tried to find an e-mail address for the parish but did not locate. There is a cemetery with the church but there are also a Moore Old cemetery and a Moore New cemetery.

Roger:
Thank you so much, I should have realized that the transcriber made a mistake! My mother-in-law is 90, and she visited Ireland in 1982, and met Brigid's daughter. She will be thrilled to hear this information. They didn't know much about their family's history because it wasn't talked about. Elizabeth had a child, Bridget, out of wedlock, with the family she worked for in Ardnaglug. It was a giant family secret, but Anne told her granddaughter in America about her sister's granddaughter in Ardnaglug.
Thanks again,

Dear Ellen,
I apologise for not seeing you message until now. My name is Marie Costello Monaghan and I live in Ardnaglug. We have a histroy group in the parish of Moore and are delighted to help out in anyway. My presumption is that the Kelly family are buired in Kilbegley Graveyard (parish of Moore ) or perhaps Creagh Graveyard (parish of Creagh near Ballinasloe). In May 2016 we recorded the headstones in Kilbegley graveyard and we will commence writing up the incriptions this month. The Moore Parish historic graveyards are on www.historicgraves.com. I will keep a close eye when transcibing the inscriptions for the Kelly headstones but of course there may not be a headstone and as I mentioned some Ardnaglug familes are buried in Creagh old graveyard but I have contacts there and will keep you posted in time.
I have heard of Liza ( pronounced Li-sa) Kelly and know where her house and fields are in Ardnalgug. I have heard of the McKeown and Mitchell connection. I will look up my notes as soon as I can.
Roger McDonnell kindly answered you reply above. Moore History Group can be contacted at moorehistorymarie@gmail.com
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Marie

I wonder if anyone could help find out what happened to Pat Kelly. I know what happened to Elizabeth, and her daughter and granddaughter. I also know what happened to the siblings that emigrated to America. The family in America never mentioned Patrick Kelly.
