Hi Looking for information about Kieran Shea EBY 1822 Death 29/10/1896 Cornaveagh Widower, Farmer, death reported by son John Shea. John married Elizabeth Kenny 31/01/1898 Cloonburen ballinasloe Elizabeths parents were William and Mary Kenny Father was a gamekeeper/farmer
John and Elizabeth were listed in the 1901/1911 census at house1Cornaveagh( Cloonburren, Roscommon) I am having difficulty finding a Birth certificate for John because I am unaware of Johns mothers maiden name, every time I apply for a birth certificate it comes back with the wrong Fathers name. From the age on the marriage certiicate and census information I estimate John was born 1866-1870 Roscommon( Ballinasloe )
1 Who was Kieran Shea Wife and when did she die
2 Who was John Shea mother and what was her maiden name, and were there any other children
3 Did Kieran Shea have any siblings
Thanks patsy

Patsy:
Unfortunately the RC records for Moore parish do not start until 1870. The Creagh records start in 1820 or so. I looked at www.familysearch.org and found an 1868 baptismal index record for a John Shea born to James Shea and Ann Gavin.
I also located an 1867 civil birth index record in the Ballinasloe registration district for a John Shea. You would have to write to the General Register Office to get a copy which costs around 4 euros. If you want to get a copy of this record let me know and I will forward instructions.

Patrick,
Are you related to the Shea's of Cornaveagh?
I am a descendant of John & Elizabeth Shea. (Great great grandparents). I have the inscriptions of headstones in Kilbegley graveyard.
Your information above has been very helpful, as I didn't know that Kieran Shea was a widower. That would explain one of the inscriptions for me.
If you would like to email me at eithneoshea2@hotmail.com
I'd be happy to share what I have with you.

Hi Elizabeth,
What years are we looking at? And what part of Moore, as there were many different Shea families scattered around the parish. Cloneash, Cornaveagh, Faltia, etc. Have you done an Ancestry DNA test? It might narrow down which branch you're from.
