Trying to confirm Townland of origin for following family:

John Higgins, 1851 Liverpool census, married, born Co. Roscommon, wife Mary, sister Ellen Higgins.

John Higgins, 1861 Liverpool census, married, born Ireland, wife Jane, sister Ellen Higgins, with child, Henry.

John Higgins, 1865, marries Bridget Thornton (see message for Thornton family from Westport, Mayo, please.) John reports his father as John, deceased, and his mother as Winifred ????y.

John Higgins, 1871 Liverpool census, wife Bridget, children, Harriet (Jane), Patrick,Peter, sister Ellen Higgins.

John Higgins, 1881 Liverpool census, wife Bridget, children, Patrick, John (my grandfather), Francis, and Elizabeth. Peter died in 1871.

John Higgins, 1882, dies in Liverpool Workhouse.

Patrick Higgins, Co. Roscommon lives next to/near John for at least 20 years and is witness at marriage after John's death for his children. Assume he is a sibling.

Patrick Higgins is reported as from "Ballinrobe" Co. Roscommon on one of the censuses. Not sure if that is mistaken as Ballintober.

    I had a look at the English Censuses to get a birth year for John & it seems to vary from 1831 to 1833.

    I searched rootsireland.ie.for baptisms/births for John Higgins father John mother Winifred 1831 + - 3 and got no matches but when I removed Winifred there were 2 matches 1828 & 1833. Neither was from Ballintubber though. There was no Ballinrobe in the list.

    There were 3 John Higgins born with parents John & Winifred in Roscommon - 2 in 1865 & 1 in 1877.

    The Tithe Applotments (free to search) has 13 John Higgins in Roscommon including 1 in Ballintober in 1832. There is only 1 Patrick & he is in a different parish.

    The only baptism/birth record on rootsireland for Ellen Higgins is 1869 - parents not John or Winifred.

    The only marriage record for John Higgins with father John (mother not Winifred) to Mary in Roscommon is 1870.

    I couldn't find any record of his/their arrival in England.

    There is a John Higgins and a Patrick in Ballintober in Griffiths Valuation.

    Sorry I couldn't nail it down for you!
