Good day. I am looking for information on my 2nd gr-grandfather and his family.

His name was Patrick Quin, b. abt 1818 in Roscommon.  His parents were Michael and Ann (Roddy).

He was married to Mary (or Mary Ann) McCormick in Bermingham, England in 1842.

On the wedding certificate his father Michael was listed as a "tailor".

After they married they moved to Isslington, London, England and lived there for the rest of their lives.

Patrick died in 1864.

Any help would be appreciated.

  • Hi

Remember to post as much information as you can with regard to the people you are researching. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you.

Here are a couple of sites that may help you

You could try checking the land records called the Tithe Applotment Books (1823-38) http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp

    or the later Griffith's Valuation (1848-64) http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/

or the Church of Latter Day Saints (LDS) https://familysearch.org/

CHURCH RECORDS (ROMAN CATHOLIC) Most Catholic records are held locally - One site which might be of use is - http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/browse/ - where you can ‘browse’ an overview of available records per county. If you have any difficulty, you could try writing to the parish priest for possible assistance.

  • Long Long ago there were Quinn"s & Roddy families living in a village called Lisphilip, Ballinameen. You may find information on the Kilmacumskey ( Elphin )census of that erase.
    Good Luck.
