Ancestors in Loughglinn

The RC Parish of Loughglynn falls within two civil parishes. RC records for Tibohine/Loughglynn begin in 1833. There are some missing dates in the series though: Sept 1864-May 1975 for baptisms and June 1864-Feb 1865 for marriages. There are earlier records available for the RC parish of Loughglynn and Lisacul for 1817. There are missing dates here too though in the 1820s and 1860s.

Have you already tried using ancestry or another database to search for instances of the Beirne name in records/messages or family trees? You may be lucky and find that a marriage record is available for John and Brigid.

I couldn't see any record of John in the Tithe Applotment Books (1823-1832) but there are some entries in Griffith's Valuation (1847-1864). It would be difficult to say which, if any is your ancestor though:

If you were interested in learning more about who tenanted the land after John you could refer to the Cancelled Books in the Valuation Books. Unfortunately not many of these are online so you will have to either go to Dublin or have a researcher do this for you. As a long shot you could also have a look at the Irish Newspaper Archive . It is a subscription site but you can subscribe for as little as one day.

The 1901/1911 Census is the latest online record available and might also come in handy:

Just noted your message.

From your outlined records, you may be able to attain actual parish records for a few of the baptisms of your ancestor or indeed her siblings. There are 'pay per view' sites that could assist. Indeed, there may be a village/townland which may show the actual residence at that time. It may be possible to relate the address to records on the acclaimed Griffiths valuation records of the 1850s which may assist you further. You can try www.rootsireland.ie for further details or indeed other associated websites.

If you attain these records, please feel free to confirm. Loughlynn historically was part of the old a Tibohine parish that was subsequently spilt into three parishes, Loughglynn, Tibohine and Frenchpark.

My great-great-grandfather was a John Byrne born 1827 in Roscommon. According to family tradition, his parents were John Beirne and Brigid White. Tradition holds that his siblings are the same as the children you mention. All I know from there is that John (Ann's brother) wound up living in a townland of Bella, southwest of Ballinameen. There is married Winifred Tansey. That is where two of their children were born. They then emigrated to England around 1850, but returned a year or so later before moving back to England permanently. Any documents you could share would be greatly appreciated.
