Patrick McGarry (1792 -1857) farmed at Raheely, as did his son, Eugene (or Owen) (1834-1914). Patrick married Anne Mannion c.1820, and Owen married Catherine Cassidy in 1869. Several of the latter's offspring migrated to America -- Chicago and New York. I would be interested to hear from anybody connected to this family group.
Regards.

Does your McGARRY family include Mary McGARRY?
Mary McGARRY married Patrick OWENS, likely about early 1830s. Known children are Patrick, Mary, Catherine, Bridget, Margaret, all born between abt 1835 and 1834. Unsure any of this family emigrated, but some of their children did. Several of Patrick's children and nearly all of Catherine's (m Owen Grady) emigrated to the Baltimore, Maryland area during the late 1880s through the early 1900s. McGARRY, OWENS and GRADY families were all from Roscommon, in the area of Frenchpark. Patrick OWENS (1886-1949) married Mary CALLAGHAN, who reportedly would not leave Roscommon and never emigrated to the US, so his children may have all been born in Roscommon, although eventually emigrated themselves as they died in the US.
Additionally, the names Anne McGARRY and Luke McGARRY appear as baptismal sponsors for children of Mary McGARRY and Patrick OWENS.
Hoping for a connection!

Hi Pat
I know of only one Mary McGarry in the early 19th century scene around Frenchpark. I think she was born about 1821, the eldest daughter of Patrick McGarry (1792-1857) and Anne (n?e Mannion, 1792-1856). Mary married into the Giblin family, about 1845, and lived in the Frenchpark area, all her life. She died in 1889 and was buried in the old graveyard next to Tibohine church. The headstone says she was 68.
So I don't think she is your Mary McGarry, but I would expect to find that she was a cousin.
Best wishes.
