I am trying to trace my grandfathers family from balleymote his name was Martin Monaghan his father also Martin Monaghan was married to an Eliza Phibbs. martin senior emigrated to America and while he was away eliza died. My grandfather was then looked after by a man called barclay dunne. My grandfather came to scotland and in 1901 married my grandmother Catherine Carrigan. I would like to find out if their were any other children of the marraige or if martin senior ever returned to balleymote any info would be appreciated

Have you tried looking in Church records for records of any other children that Martin and Eliza may have had? Most Catholic records are held locally. However, the irishtimes website allows you to see an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. For Ballymote follow this link:
