Both my great- grand parents came from Collooney and Ballasdare on my mother mothers side of the family.
Henry Rooney (born 1891)
Kathleen Finan (born 1899)
They left Ireland separately but meet and married in NY. Legend has it they were not allowed to marry in Ireland. It was thought they would never find one another after they left home. I guess I wanted to know if I have any relations still in this area of Sligo.
Or if there may be other family stories from Sligo.

The on-line Irish phonebook does not have any Finans or Rooneys listed for that area but many are not in the phonebook.
I pulled the 1901 and 1911 census records for the Rooney family. It appears Henry was a few years older than an 1891 birth. In 1901, Kathleen, her brother John and her mother Bridgetr were living with her parents in Rathrippin. I'm sure the father was in Scotland. Based on her age in the 1901 censu, Kathleen was probably born in December 1900. I could not locate Kathleen or her mother in the 1911 census and maybe they were in Scotland or another part of Ireland.
