Arthur & brother Richard Pettapiece both signed a petition in 1829, which was known as the McCabe List.  The purpose of this petition was for the government to bring to Canada any living relatives.  The list states that they were brothers, from County Sligo, Ireland Parish of Ballisadare in the village of Clooncurra, whose father was Thomas with family, also his son John Pettypiece with a family all in the parish of Ballisadare, known to Major O'Hara of Nympfield.  Arthur Pettapiece and his family, in the early records were listed in the census as Church of England. The brothers came to Canada c1827, both were single. They first purchased peoperty from 'Canada Company' in North Gower Twp. Carlton Co. Ontario.

Many other Pettapiece famlies came to Ontario from Sligo - I am sure they were related in Ireland so would like to find out the Irosh connedtion,  Thanks in advance. Griffith Valuations spell the name Pettapiere.
