I am coming to Ireland and want to walk in the footsteps of my Ancestors.
The County would be Sligo .... and in the Parishes of Easkey, Kilglass and Castleconnor.
This is the area I want to explore between Easky and Enniscrone
I wish to actually go and walk on one or two of the Townlands if I can.
One of them is Townland Bowkane in Easkey Parish.
Another is Townland Magherabrach in Kilglass Parish.
I understand it is also possible through research to find the exact parcel of land. How do I do that?
I'd like to ask advice as to the degree this would be possible. I'm hopeful.
You would have to ask permission of the landowner.
It seems to do all of this one would want to rent a car.
Also what is the best time of year to visit Ireland?

FYI Maugerabrach is actually spelled Magherabrack and is about 350 acres in size. In the 1901 census, there were three families living in Magherabrack and in 1911 only two families.
I did some searching on Browbane. There is no official townland by that name but working back to the Tithe listing from 1833, there was a place name in Easky parish called Bowkane. Here is the Tithe listing for Bowkane in case you see a family name.

Bowkane evolved to two townlands called Bookaun (Browne) and Bookaun (Tottenhan). Very small townlands. Bookaun (Browne) is 84 acres and Bookaun (Tottenhan) is 79 acres. In the 1901 census, there were four families in Bookaun (Browne) (Devaney, Lindsay, McDonagh and Reid) and one family in Bookaun (Tottenhan) (Another Lindsay family).
Hard to predict when the pandemic will run its couse but I think you are looking at 2022 as a likely year for travel. I prefer October and November to travel since it is less crowded and rates are more reasonable. April and May are also good months to visit. Renting a car is a must since you are going to the northwest of Sligo which is three-four hours from Dublin less from Shannon but still a long fistance to travel.
Let me know if you have any questions.
