Records of Sarah Howley

There was a Sarah Holly born in Down in 1876.

Not sure if you saw some later records. For instance, 1911 Irish census shows Patrick and Sarah and numerous children:

1901 and 1911 censuses show her born in Sligo.

Sarah Howley was my Grandmother and had 13 children one of which was my father Thomas.Sarah died in childbirth in 1918 and is buried in Rosslea cemetery.l have her marriage cert to Pat Forde my Grandfather ,which states her father was James but l cannot find any record of her birth or her mother.

Ann,

The baptism records for the RC parish of Easky begin in 1864, so you will not find a record for John Forde. I did not locate any Griffith's Valuation record for him in Killeenduff. If you want to explore John's wife's family, the Whytes, it looks like there is a Whyte family living in Killeenfuff in the 1901 census. 

I too have Easky ancestors, and wish the records went back further!

I looked on the subscription site Roots Ireland for Sarah Howley...I did not find her, but I did find three Howley children born to James Howley and Bridget Conway, all from Easky town. These could possibly be her siblings....not 100% certain. Given that she named her first born daughter, Bridget, it might work. Here are the details:

Martin Joseph Howley DOBirth 20 Dec 1880, Parents - James Howley & Bisy Conway, Sponsors - James Kenny & Mrs. Kenny

Margaret Howley DOBirth 7 Dec 1882, Parents - James Howley & Bridget Conway, Sponsors - Francis Harte & Winifred Howley

James Howley DOBirth 21 Sep 1885, Parents - James Howley & Bridget Conway, Sponsors - Thomas Howley & Bridget Howley

Carolyn thank you so much for that information.l think that you could be  on the right track and will follow it up.The only query is there is no Martin or Margaret in the children although my father was a great friend of Kenny family.lt is so difficult as the records are not as good as my mother’s side in Laois and often hard to decipher but keep going!

Ann,  i have Howley in my family. No sarah. There are lots of Howleys from that area at that time.. def try and get some corroborating evidence. Martin howley mentioned above cod be in my family but we def dudnt have a sarah. His parents were thaddeus and mary rogan.

Thank you Fi for your reply much appreciated.l know that Sarah Howley’s father was James as it is on her marriage cert to Patrick Forde but other than that know very little,not even a photo.My father was the second youngest when she died so knew very little about his mother only that she was born 1876 and died 1918.

Thank you for info  just got to keep looking although nearly exhausted all channels!
