Bridget Carden (1849-1921) immigrated and settled in Pittston Pennsylvania 1865. Parents were John Carden and Mary Langan. Don't know where in Sligo she is from. The area where she moved was all coal mining and heavily settled by Irish immigrants as herself. She married Patrick Cooney and had six children, one my grandfather John Cooney. It seems to me that it's likely groups came together to settle in this area of Pennsylvania.

  • I checked the Griffiths Valuation data for Co. Sligo. The valuation was published for Sligo in 1858. Assuming John Carden was still alive in 1858, there were two possible records:

John Carden in Curraghbonaun town land, Achonry parish

John Cardon in Drinaghan More town land Kilglass parish

I would focus your research in those two locations.
