I am trying to find where my irish relatives lived in Ireland.
Arthur Shaw appears on Canada 1851 census, age 30, farmer, Methodist, Tupperville, Chatham/Kent along with
Elizabeth Shaw spinster, age 28 and
Elizabeth Jane, age 5 or 3 and
Robert Bruce age 1.
I was told that hiw fathers name was Samuel and never left Ireland.

Liz:
I looked at the Tithe listings from the 1820s and 1830s and there were 25 Shaw records in Co. Sligo although there are duplicates so the real number is much less. There are three Samuel Shaws. One each in Ballysadare, Calry and Templeboy parishes. Not sure which records pertains to your ancestor. The actual Tithe listings are in most cases very faint
Hopefully this link works:

I looked on the subscription site Roots Ireland but did not see a baptismal record for Arthur Shaw or Elizabeth Shaw with father Samuel. Howver, Roots Ireland only has Methodist records for Sligo town which may explain not finding their records.
I also checked the 1858 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Co. Sligo but there were no Samuel Shaw records.

Hi Liz,
My GG grandmother was a Jane Shaw (approx born 1847/1856) who married (in 1871) a John Gawley (my GG grandfather) in Ballymote, Co Sligo, Ireland. Jane's fathers name was James Shaw.
However I cannot find neither her birth record or death record in Ireland.
I believe James Shaw's father may have been Samuel Shaw and that James Shaw (my GGG grandfather) potentially moved back to Ireland from America or Canada...?
Therefore Jane Shaw was born there and not in Ireland?
