I am looking for the family of my grandmother
Mary Theresa Finnerty born 1890-95 in County Sligo. She could have also been known as Molly.
All I have on this lady is that she left Ireland to come to work in the UK around 1917/18. She had a sister (name unknown) who apparently emigrated to the USA around the same time.
In 1919 Mary Theresa Finnerty gave birth a baby boy in Chelsea, London and on his birth certificate there is no name for his father - she never spoke of her family so we are led to believe she 'left Ireland under a cloud'.
I would like for anyone to get in touch that may have had a Mary Theresa Finnerty in their family and perhaps lost contact with her.

Hi there,
I can find one index to a birth record for a Mary Theresa Feenerty in Sligo in 1891 Q3, 1891, Vol. 4, Page 168) and I can find her on a later census with her parents John and Margaret and siblings near Easky.
We would need to retrieve a copy of the birth certificate to confirm it is her but, we should be able to determine which sister went to the UK and approx. when she arrived in London. It would also be possible to trace any living relatives in the Easky area. I can get birth record for you or you can get from groireland.ie or birthsmarriagesdeaths.ie

I have no info to add but...I have Finnerty's in my tree from Co Sligo. My GG Grandmother was Ellen Finnerty [perhaps really Mary Ellen?] born in Easky, Co Sligo Mar 1826. Her parents were Thadg and Nellie [Boland]. All info gleened from small bits of registration info of my G Grandfather and then finding Nellie death registration.
The last name spelling may also be Finaghty or Fenaghty. My research finds spelling is not consistant...search them all. Her birth registration should be available.
