I'm looking for information about my ancestors and a possible parish where they are from. I'll be in Ireland May 2013 and in Sligo May 25-26. I'd appreciate any assistance in finding my relatives that might be possible.
Patriarch Patrick O'Hare (4th great-grandfather) (b. 1805 Ireland, d. 30 Nov 1876 Bristol, Kenosha, Wisconsin, USA) married in abt 1834 Margaret Craney (b. 9 May 1811 Down, Offaly d. 9 Mar 1885 Pleasant Prairie, Kenosha, Wisconsin, USA). The immigrated to the U.S. in 1849 and had 7 children in Ireland, likely Sligo, before they did so. Peter (b. 15 Jun 1835 Ireland), James (b. 12 Feb 1837 Ireland), Rosanna/Rose Ann (b. 11 Sep 1839 Ireland), Patrick J. (my line) (b. 20 Sep 1842 Sligo), Michael (b. 25 Sep 1846 Ireland), John Henry (26 Sep 1847 Ireland), and William F. (23 Apr 1848 Ireland)
Many thanks,
Mandy

This is a really nice website for Sligo Research
http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~irlsli/sligocountyireland.html
The only records that might show these families are the Tithe Applotments- 1823-37 as they will have left Ireland 1849.
I don't see any O'Hare's -just O'Hara in Sligol
However you could look for possible relatives in the Griffiths Valuation in 1850's
And you could also search for relatives in the 1901 and 1911 Census
There is a O;Hare in Kilglass, in 1901, some families (O'Hara) were on the Tithe applotments in this area
Mandy I don't come from Sligo so someone here may be able to give you some more information, feel free to ask any other questions

Dympna,
Thanks for the quick reply. Two Patricks look like good candidates in the tithe books. In some of the U.S. Census records the family is listed as O'Harra so perhaps it become changed to the more standard O'Hare in the U.S. over time.

I come from this same family.
My mother was Helen O'hare and her dad was HM O'hare - they lived in Evanston, IL.
HM (Henry Michael O'hare) was the son of Peter O'hare who was the oldest son of Patrick.
You can see my family tree here: tomer.tribalpages.com
And on Ancestry.com: Lorenzo James Tomer family tree.
My Facebook is missrummens@gmail.com
My email is: missrummens@gmail.com
I would love to know what you learned when you went to Ireland in 2013 and I would love to know how you fit in to this family tree.

PS My mother's mom was also from Ireland (County Cork) so she was 100% Irish and I am 50% (I just had my AncestryDNA done).
