- Annie Mary Dignan was born in 1849 or 1851 in Sligo and her father James Dignan born 1821, Annie is my great grandmother and came out to Australia and married Giuseppe Porra in 1876. I am seeking any information about Annie and her father James Dignan. It would be great to visit Sligo sometime in the next couple of years. Thank you for any information that you can provide. Apparently James Dignan died in Roscommon in 1894. Kind regards, Keith Porra

Keith:
Some information for your consideration. I found a death index record for a James Dignan who died in 1894 in the Roscommon registration district. Possibly the record is for your relative. You can get a copy for around 4 euros by contacting the GRO www.groireland.ie Fill out their form and provide the quarter/year of death, registration district and the volume and page number ( 3 and 265). The Griffiths Valuation survey was conducted in Sligo in 1858. Assuming he was still in Sligo, he may be one of the four lised below the death index record.
