Unfortunately, the reality of finding documentation pertaining to births/baptisms/marraiges/deaths in Ireland prior to 1800 , is that they simply may not exist. Consequently it may be difficult to find a marraige record for John and Catherine.

If they were Roman Catholic, you can use the irishtimes website to get an overview of what  records are available for specific parishes. For Tawnagh, follow this link:

I contacted the parish priest quite a few years ago and he told me I had to refer to the FHC microfilm.
