Discovered recently that my ancestors  'Turner' came from Ballingarry not far from Borrisokane, Co Tipperary. Robert was married in Kilodiernan church in 1848 to a Mary Atkinson. He also had a brother Joe. They both moved to Doon, in Co. Offaly about 1850 where they lived for many years.

Any other information would be appreciated.

  • Thanks for your reply.

I recently found a copy of the marrage of Turner to Atkinson in the COI records office in Breamore RD, Churchtown, Dublin. I have most of the information about the Doon connection as this is where my late father grew up and a family member is still living in the same house. The two brothers Robert and Joseph that moved from Ballingarry both worked on the estate of 'Mooney' in Doon Co. Offaly, one as a stewart and one as a heard. They were my GGrand father and G Grand uncle. I am planning to check out any protestant grave yards in the Ballingarry area. Joseph from Ballingarry was buried in Liss, Ballycumber but as I understand it no church records exist for Liss.
