Hi- in one of the earlier (pre 1848) griffiths valuation there is mention of a Quinlan Forge on the north side of the northern boundary of Williamstown. Its gone by 1848. Has any of you any information it would be gratefully received. There is an overlap of a few years when Williamstown is part of Gortnahoe parish because of a disagreement between the two priests.
Message from our Volunteer: The only thing I can offer is that the osi.ie have maps dating from 1838 onwards that should show the forge in question. The Down Survey may have some information also. Thurles library has a Tipperary studies department that may have information also.
