I am seeking information, relatives etc of James Quigley born ca 1839 in Borrisokane, the son of John Quigley and Mary O'Rourke.

James came to Australia pre 1876 and lived in rural Queensland until his death in 1925.  I have no information about his parents and siblings and will welcome any information offered.

    The Irish Family History Foundation http://www.rootsireland.ie/ Tipperary North. They have Birth, Marriage and Death records for North Tipperary online. (Fee) ( Borrisokane is in North Tipperary)

    The land records called the Tithe Applotment Books (1823-38) or the later Griffith's Valuation (1848-64). Griffith's is freely available here: http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/

    also Familysearch.org. have a large collection of Birth, Marriage and Death records. They also have the Ireland Civil registration Births, Marriages and Deaths Index 1864 - 1958

  • Many thanks for your reply and information.  I have only just revisited the site so I have not yet looked at these sources, but I will do so.

     

    James Quigley came to a place called Taroom in Queensland.  Its a small town with only a couple of hundred inhabitants, north west of Roma.

    I believe that James Quigley was my great great grandfather.  Cyril Quigley his grandson bn 1909 was my grandfather
