When my great-great grandmother, landed in Sydney, NSW, Australia, in the Simond on 12th April 1855, she indicated that she was the offspring of Thomas & Mary (deceased), was born in 1829, and was known as Ellen Carew. My research has not made any suitable link. However, after cosidering that her details (and other info I have) might not be truthfull, it is likely that she was born in 1839.
Her death certificate details support that she was born in 1839 and is possibly the daughter of Bridget Morrissey & Edward or Edmund Carew:

Death certificate entries indicate that Ellen was aged 38yrs in 1877. Means that she was b. 1839. It also states she was 17yrs age on date of marriage (1856) also indicates b. 1839. Also states father as Edward Keary. The husband, William, was illiterate, so some of the death certificate details are suspect.
My grandmother indicated that Ellen wished to marry a presbyterian, a William Creber, but her parents Lord and Lady Carew (RC) did not go along with this. They wanted her to marry a cousin to continue the family line. Ellen fled to Australia with her maid and married William in 1856.

Research on the "Ellen Carew" who arrived on the Simonds, has not brought up any links that indicate parents as Thomas and Mary. The assumption is, that she used incorrect details because she was very young, and the death certificate details indicate a 10 year discrepancy in birthdate. Marriage details indicate that Ellen Carew married William Creber in 1855/56. This ties in with the death certificate ages and marriage.
Apparently, provenance documents indicating the link to Lord and Lady Carew factor, were lost in a house fire in Sydney.
Ellen Carew was supposed to have travelled to Australia with her maid. Note the following coincidental details of another passenger:-

When I see "LORD" I check in this site, this gives estates, houses and family names. This is all over Ireland.
