John Armitage and Ellen Baskerville family

I believe that my Murrays came from Youghalarra parish too.  Among my DNA matches along that line are Hughens and McHughens who list Armatage in their tree.  If they are matches to you, you will find them on Gedmatch.com and the various other services.  Most ended up in the US, but some from that parish went to Victoria and New South Wakes.

My 3x great-grandfather, John Armitage, was from Ireland, possibly Tipperary. He purchased land in western New York state in 1816. He married a Frances/Fanny, maiden name unconfirmed, but possibly Mooney. They were married in New York state, but she was also from Ireland. I've been searching any and all Armitage/Armatage connections that I can find. I'd love to connect my John back to his parents and his birthplace. One other factor, he was Methodist. His son John B Armitage became a Methodist minister. I have a huge Ancestry tree with connections of Armitages to Palatine families and other Protestant/Methodist families in Ireland, Canada, US, Australia & New Zealand. So far, no luck. I'd love any suggestions.

Armitage/Baskerville family.

I think we may have a common ancestor.

My grandma's grandmother was Jane Lawler (born at sea ) who married a Benjamin Armitage 1873, who parents I believe were John Armitage and Ellen Baskerville from Youghal Tipperary.

Benjamin was a bit of a lad ( by what I understand) he used his mother maiden name at times. I think he went Awol from the army or navy and rejoined under the name Baskerville. He also used Baskerville when his daughter was baptism Ellen Armitage my great grandmother.

Do you think this is the same family ?

Yes and we have corresponded on Ancestry. Are you Josephine Johnson? We matched DNA as 5th-8th cousins on Ancestry. I do think you have the correct Armitage family. I have been looking for what happened to his siblings and parents. I have hit a wall. One of his sisters may have emigrated to Australia.

Responding to Parka. I did not see you post. The John Armitage in my family tree was Catholic. He would have been too young to come to New York in 1816. There were Protestant Armitages in Tipperary as well though. I found many listed when I did research on Roots Ireland. Irishgenealogy.ie is another good site.
