Hello there, I have had a brickwall in my family tree for some time. My great  grandmother was Catherine Mahoney believed to be from Ireland. I have her certificate in 1838 for her marriage to Thomas Povey in st Dunstans church Stepney. The banns were posted in November 1837 so by that time she was in England. We have recently done some online research and believe we have found her birth family in Clogheen. On her marriage she gave her father's name as Eugene and that is the only family knowledge we have. We believe she was born between 1811 and 1816 (age 25 on 1841 census)

We have found Eugene married to Catherine Cahill in Clogheen having the foolowing children

Johanna 1810

Eugenuium 1814

Jacob 1816

William 1823

As the records on line are not complete I wonder if they exist somewhere locally  wher some kind person might find her birth. Alternatively I would just like to prove she lived therabouts until the early 1830s. i wonder if other records may exist such as Census or Sunday school etc.

I would really appreciate help or advice from someonw in the area.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I looked on Roots Ireland and located the records for Johanna, Jacob and William but not the Eugenium record or a record for Catherine. The parish register https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0116 shows a gap between June 1814 and June 1815. Likely Catherine was born in the gap period. The actual registers were microfilmed in the early 1950s by the National Library and were digitized and put online two years ago. The local parish would not have the missing records.

There are no census records available for Tipperary for 1821 and 1831. Likely there are no school records available for that time period.
