Family tradition has it that my great uncle left Clonmel to become a Mountie in Canada. He was born about 1901 and I guess would have left late teens/his early 20s. I can't find any record on passenger ships or arrival. Can anyone help? I have no dates!

  • Hi, do you have any other Information on his family at all ?
eg his parents name or siblings.
I have found a family living in Clonmel in 1911 with a David born 1901. If you have any other info at all, please let me know and will see what I can find out .
    Kind Regards Karen

  • Hi Karen, yes that's them. Thomas and Kate parents, then Michael, Anne (my grandmother), David and Jane. There are two more but different locations that night. I've done so much research but David (and also Michael) I cannot trace.
Thanks very much for your interest and offer of help!

  • I mean I can't trace either of them after 1911. Michael crops up in a Petty Sessions court but after that I get stuck and there's so many Michael Mahonys I just don't know if I have the right one. One family member said Michael emigrated but everyone else believes it's David.

  • interestingly that you have lost the trace after 1911 :  i am searching for records for John ( james) t. mahony born 27-11-1911  ancestors from clonmel  ( possibly garrymore )   john married Mary Bridgett kilravey ( sometimes written as Gilravey ) probably because the cousins over the water couldn't understand our accents .

He moved to the area of Cumbria in the UK

mary' relations stem from Leitrim , she then appears on the nursing register in north london   UK in 1949-1952 ....then nothing ,,,so far

Three children are shown on the other tracing groups search  , whom appear in Barrow in furness

    any clues
