Hoping to learn something about my GGGrandfather William Egan and his family pre 1864 Ireland. The family emigrated to Australia and the information I have before their arrival comes mainly from Shipping Records. I'm assuming they were from Drom as all the children gave this as their Native Place though father Willian did not.
Daughter Bridget, farm servant, 22yrs, was first to arrive New South Wales Australia on the "Ebba Brahe"1855 Native place was Drom, parents William and Margaret living at Drom. No relatives in Australia.
She was followed by siblings, (these surnames spelt Eagan )Johanna, 20, Mary 19, Phillip, 20 on the "Northern Light" 1858. All were farm laborers, native place Drom. Parents William and Margaret, mother dead. Father at Drom ( Phillip and Johanna)or Borrisoleigh (Mary ) Sister Bridget at Mr Kendalls Kiama NSW
Brothers Edward 22 and Patrick20 came on the "Hotspur1 " 1861.Both Domestic Servants, Native place Drom Patrick gave his mothers name as Mary Maher on his marriage certificate.
Then, in 1864, on the "Sirocco1" came father William,laborer,55, his second wife Catherine and five children --- John 15, William 13, Catherine 10, Ann 8, Stephen 6. Native place for all was Borrisoleigh.A William Egan, Borrisoleigh, signed the Cormack Petition in 1858. William died 1873 at Ulladulla NSW, age from death cert. 73, married twice Ireland. Occupation Baliff, Court of Requests. All the family settled around the Kiama, Conjola, Ulladulla area NSW.
It would be great to know something of my GGGrandmother, first wife of William, their marriage, her death date. even her correct name. Hoping someone can help or just point me in the right direction for learning more.
Many thanks
Maureen

Hi Maureen, A James Egan owned land in the townland of Knockagh in the Civil and Catholic parish of Drom Co Tipperary, in Griffiths valuation 1850s.
I will have a look at local Graveyard records to see can I come up with headstone for Williams first wife your ancestor.
Best of luck with your search.
