Looking for information on John Loughnane who married Bridget McGrath circa 1810. They lived in Cabragh townland. I think they may have emigrated to Quebec, Canada sometime before 1832 but can't find them there either. They had a daughter Bridget born in Ireland around 1813, who married in Quebec in 1832.

Hi
thank you for your message.
Do you know much about their emigration? The dates, the reason why they left, who they may have travelled with?..etc..Generally more information was given at the port of arrival rather than the port of departure. If you knew which city they arrived at (e.g. Liverpool, New York, etc.), this could be a good place to find more information. -And perhaps even find out an exact place of origin.
Church records may be of use to you - Most Catholic records are held locally - One site which might be of use is - http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/browse/ - where you can ?browse? an overview of available records per county. If you have any difficulty, you could try writing to the parish priest for possible assistance.
Church of Ireland parish registers for the period up to 1870-are public records. Registers are available for about one third of the parishes, however many were destroyed in the Public Records Office in Dublin in 1922. Most are still held by the local clergy, although some are in the National Archives of Ireland and others are in the Representative Church Body Library in Dublin. A list of all surviving registers is available in the National Archives. http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42 and http://www.nationalarchives.ie/. The Anglican Record Project is has created an index to their records: http://ireland.anglican.org/cmsfiles/pdf/AboutUs/library/AngRecord/bunclodyunionindex.pdf

Thank you for all the suggestions. I actually included everything I know about this family, which is almost nothing, in my original post. It's what was in the marriage record for Bridget Loughnane to Jean Hebert. I have not been able to narrow them down to a parish church, just the townland of Cabragh, Fertiana, Thurles.
I have looked at church records for Cashel and Emly and found no Loughnanes or McGraths with the right first names nor any in the townland of Cabragh. I have not been able to find anything in the NLI nor tithe applotments. Griffiths Valuation is too late, although I've searched for others with that surname without finding anything helpful.
There are no arrival records in Canada for that time period and the only church records I found here were for Bridget's marriage to Jean Hebert, the birth of their son, and then Bridget's death the following year. No trace of parents or siblings anywhere under any variation of the surname.
Their arrival in Canada pre-dated censuses and I've tried all the possible variations on the name Loughnane that I could come up with - to no avail. They were RC so I have not looked at Protestant records. Bridget's birth is estimated as 1813 with no emigration date and It's so early in the 19th century I haven't found anything yet.
I have paid for records on the IFHF site but none were the right folks. I'll check out the Irish Times.
I will in future indicate where I've already searched. Thank you again.
Ann
