I am seeking the kind help of anyone having details of the ancestry of William Perry (1808-72) and his father Henry Perry (1760-) of Kilboy, Killenaule near Graystown, who married Anne Toppin of the Buffanagh Toppins. (Perry's Well was on land they once farmed.) Henry is my ggg grandfather - but there our records cease. Maybe someone has a family bible?

best wishes, Julian Cribb, Canberra, Australia

    Hello again!

Hopefully someone with Perry connections near Killenaule will see your message and post comments. You don't mention the religious denomination of the Perrys but I will assume Church of Ireland. Unfortunately, the records for this parish were destroyed in the 1922 Public Records Office fire in Dublin. If your family was RC, baptismal records go back to 1742. There is a gap from 1802-1813. Marriage records start in 1812.

  • Thank you so much, Roger. Greatly obliged for this kind advice.

Yes, I believe the Perrys were Church of Ireland. I'm aware of the loss of records - a great misfortune. I have found them in Griffiths Valuation, but that is just a snapshot in time and only reports the land holdings.

Hoping for more success with the Feigherys, in Co, Offaly, who were RC.

    best wishes
