I just started researching my husband's family.  His father grandfather James and grandmother Theresa Maloney moved to New Jersey in the early 1900s.  His father lived in NJ but had been back to Tipperary.  My husbands name is Michael.  My research took me back to a Michael Strapp who was part Killenaule Tipperary and married a woman named Elizabeth Cambel.  I'm rying to figure out if this is in fact his family.  Since it is not the most common name in Ireland and localized in Tipperary, I am hoping I am not far off.

Thanks,

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

I checked the 1901 and 1911 censuses and there were no Strapp/Strappe records in Killenaule. I did not locate a James Strapp/Theresa Maloney marrriage or a Michael Strapp/Elizabeth Campbell/Cambel marriage. When did these marriages occur?

There have been other messages posted about Strapp ancestors. If you go to the main message board page and enter Strapp in the search feature, you will get the past Strapp messages and as you indicated they were all in Co. Tipperary.

  • Michael Strapp and Elizabeth Cambel we married 3/1818. The paper I have a picture of says your parish. It also lists the baptisms of their children with birth dates. It looks like on my phone I can't upload it. Thanks for your help!
