Looking for my female ancestor's birth and marriage records, and names of her parents.
Honora Fox married (?) John McGrath of British army 58th Regiment of Foot (abt. 1802 - 1862). They moved around a lot with the army and I have found scarce records until they emigrate to New Zealand, where they are buried.
Husband John McGrath's military records have his birthplace as Annagh, County Cavan.
Daughter Ellen McGrath is baptised on 26 August 1827. Parish: Knockgraffon, New Inn, Diocese: Cashel and Emly, [Tipperary].
Was Honora Fox from the same County Cavan as her husband? Or was she from Tipperary where her daughter Ellen was baptised?
Note: Fox is the anglicised version of Ó Sionnaigh (also appears as O Sheny, O Sunny, Shunny, Shinagh, Shinnick, Shinnock, Shinwick, and more).

Hi A
Are you in New Zealand or the UK? I am in NZ.
I found a possible birth record for Honora on Ancestry. You could check it out and see what you think.
Honora Fox, baptised 15 July 1805 at Moycarkey, Tipperary, Ireland. Diocese is Cashel and Emly. Father Patk Fox and mother Joanna Kearny.
Do you know anything about Honora's sister, Susannah.
Regards,
Maureen

Thanks for the tip-off Maureen. I'm in NZ also.
I'll look for these names in my DNA matches to see if anything comes up.
The only records I have uncovered for Honora's sister is a baptism and a census record when the regiment was stationed at Edinburgh (see below research).
Kind regards, AnnettaExtract from her wikitree profile page:
Susan was born in 1839. She is the daughter of John McGrath and Honora Fox.
Susan was baptised at St John's Catholic Cathedral in Portsea where her father's 58th Regiment was stationed at the time. "Patrinus fuit Jacobus Gallagher" translates as godfather was James Gallagher.[1]
Susan and older sister Ellen come up in the 1841 Scotland Census as father John had been sent there with the 58th Regiment of Foot (British Army). Parents John and Honora are listed together on another page.

Hi Annetta, thanks for your help, much appreciated. My research is from the angle of Ellen McGrath who married Daniel Addis. Daniel's sister Emily Charity married William John Redwood - the Redwoods are in my family tree. I have done a bit of research on Ellen and Daniel and also John McGrath and Honora Fox.

Hi Maureen
Sounds like we share the same research goals. I too have done a lot of research on all these names.
Have you checked out my research on wikitree? I'm wondering how we are related? I am a descendant of Daniel and Ellen's son William John "Jack" Addis.
Feel free to message me via wikitree so we can take this offline - if you click on the link for Jack's profile page you'll see my name as profile manager and there's a private message link next to that.
