Looking for information about these individuals, their parents and siblings, and other relatives still in Ireland as to Patrick C. Ryan, born about 1830 at County Tipperary and Honora “Nora” Quinlan (or Quilan?), born about 1838 at County Tipperary. They were married in 1853 at Lattin-Cullen Parish. I have no information on any relatives of Honora Quinlan. Patrick and Honora emigrated to USA in the 1870’s. Any assistance will be appreciated.

  • Dan:

The records for Lattin-Cullen RC parish start in 1846 but they are not currently online on Roots Ireland.

This summer, the National Library plans to put RC parish registers online for free searching. I suggest that you search Lattin-Cullen parish when the records become available online.

There are seven different civil parishes where Lattin-Cullen is the RC parish so searching for the Griffiths Valuation records would be difficult particularly with the surname Ryan and there are a good number of Quinlans in the area.

Let me know if you have questions.

  • Hello Dan, I may be able to help since I too am researching these two people.

    found on 1880 census record of Cohoes, NY, USA: Household Members:NameAgePatrick C. Ryan50Hanora Ryan54John Ryan23Homara Ryan21Mary Ryan18Michul Ryan16Thomas Ryan12

Both parents were born in Ireland. Their son Thomas ( b abt 1868) is my great grandfather. Thomas married Hannah McHale and had 4 children: Bernadette, Philip, Harold and Sylvester. All resided in Cohoes as well ( check out 1920 and 1930 census records). Sylvester, my grandfather, married Anna Hyland and they had 3 children: Shelia, ( living), Donald (living) and Gerald ( deseased and was my father).

We have not a whole lot of knowledge of Ryan's past my great grandfather Thomas due to what I haeard as a family falling out. But the info you had posted is waht we know as well, nothing about the Quinlans. Perhaps you have found more since this post?

Looking forward to hearing from you, Patty ( USA)

  • Hi Patty, I have the information on your family line. I have not able to track any information as to Patrick C. Ryan and Honora Quinlan back in Ireland or anything new since my post. I have been at a dead end. See the recent post by Roger McDowell as to Lattin-Cullen parish.

Patrick C. Ryan and Honora Quinlan are my 3x Great Grandparents, and their daughter Honora Ryan married Patrick Walsh, my 2x Great Grandparents who moved from New York to South Dakota, where most of my Irish family line came from.

  • Dan, came across this toiht. I htink in the original post, the couple mentioned is the same Patricka and Honora we are looking into. As you read down teh posts, I see the name Looby. I have a copy of a census record in Cohoes and it has a Honora Ryan living as a boarder ( 60-70 yo) living with Loobys on the same street as Thoams and hannah Ryan ( my great granparents and I believe the same Honora that is Thomas' mother)

  • Hi Patty: The message board post you found as to the Looby's in Cohoes, New York, is from my uncle Bill Flanagan. I have many maternal Irish relatives that lived in the Cohoes, New York area - such as Walsh, Ryan and Looby families, If you have access to ancestry.com, you can access my tree under the search of family trees as to "Daniel Haugen family tree." Just search for my deceased father, "Gerald Haugen" who died in Marshall, Minnesota. If you do not have access to ancestry.com, send an e-mail to me at drhaugen@hotamil.com and I can send you a Excel family chart I have created.

  • HI Dan, I did come across yoru family tree tonight before I saw yoru post about it, actually by accident. Via another post on another site I came across a Curran who I knwo are related to my Ryan family. She had a copy of the photo you had mentioend oabout Honora Ryan and her children. The man in the back row with a mustache I am 99% sure is my great grandfather Thoams. I sent a copy of the photo to my uncle in Cohoes to confirm this. I see on your tree you dont have much info on the Sylvester Ryan's wife Anna ( my grandparents) if you want that or more info about their chidlren and grandchildren I can provide that.
