Hi Folks

I'm putting together my family tree and I am looking for any information on my Gran, Winifred Fahey who married Thomas Doherty from Coolacussane. They married on the 12/8/1914 in the church in Lorrha, Terryglass and their witness's were Michael Lavelle and Bridget Nevin. I know from research that Winifred's Dad was Patrick b 1845 and her Mam was Catherine Meara b 1853 and died in 1910. I believe Catherine is from Kilfadda and her Dad was Denis Meara. Catherine and Patrick married in 1874 in Borrisokane and the witness's were Rodger Brophy and Mary Darcy the Priest was John Kennedy CC.

The Fahey family are in the 1901 cencus at Ballyquirke, Lorrha West.

Thanks in advance

Gerry Doherty

I can provide a few bits of information but you may want to get a short-term subscription to Roots Ireland. Also, www.irishgenealogy.ie is a free site which has the images of certain civil records.

I located the death record fro Catherine Fahey in 1910. See link below and sign-in to see the record. Could not find a record for Patrick. I located a transcription of the 1874 civil marriage record and the father of Patrick is shown as Michael. I also looked at the 1850 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing and there were no Fahey/Fahy records in Lorrha civil parish.so possibly Patrick was from a different parish. There were many Meara records. See link below.

  • Hi, I noticed that the family were still there in 1911, Joseph, Bridget an Margaret are missing. (Wininfred is the miss spelling)
I searched for Patrick's death no results from anywhere in Co.Tipperary.
At that time it depened where you passed on, in various hospitals you would be registered in that town, which makes it harder to search. Patrick was 56 in the 1901 census and 70 in the 1911, but what's in a few years.
    the 1911 Census
