The name Mary Meara is very common in the Tipp records on RI--hundreds of them! But I did find a few in Moycarky, one with father Daniel, which was the name of one of the Leahy sons. It's not proven that this is your Mary's baptism, but keep it under consideration.

Thank you.. i have looked up Marys death certificate and her fathers name was recorded as Dennis O' Mera ( probably their interpretation of surname) It has her as being born around 1817.
Would these appear anywhere in the records?

I found on RootsIreland a Mary born to a Dennis in Dunkerrin in 1823...too late, as her first child was born 1833.
About her death certificate...Mary did not provide this information, obviously, A third-party did, one who may have been misinformed, grieving, etc. I often find errors on death certs; sometimes I feel the only true information on the document is that the person has died. So don't discount the birth record.

The Irish given name Donncha was anglicized in various ways, including both Denis and Daniel. Sometimes this was at the whim of the priest or official making the record. The area of Moycarkey still had many Irish speakers in the mid-1800's, so he may have been Donncha to his family when he was born, but either Denis or Daniel in various written records, Sometimes people chose to switch anglicized forms later in life, especially when emigrating.
