Hello there

I have discovered my Ryan kin originated in Moyaliff although the Tynan's may have been Ballycahill.

My ancestor, Bridget Catherine Ryan was the daughter of Michael Ryan and Margaret Tynan

She left Ireland for Australia in the early 1850's probably following her brother Thomas Michael Ryan who became a publican in Victoria.  Bridget married in 1857 to an O'Rourke and travelled to New Zealand where they raised a family.

Name Date of Baptism Sponsor/s

Ellenora Ryan 1- 9 -1836 Timothy Tynan & Mary Ryan

Patrick Ryan 9 – 8 -1838 Patrick Dwyer & Margaret Ryan

Margaret Ryan 21-3-1840 Ml. Costelloe & Mary O’Dwyer

Judith Ryan 6 – 6 1842 Pat Ryan & Judy(?) McGrath

Edmund Ryan 24 – 2 – 1847 John and Mary Tynan.

I am travelling from NZ to visit (my 2nd time) and hope to find out more information on this Ryan family.  I believe there was a John and Anne Ryan living in Moyaliff in the 1901 census, and the eldest children recorded are Michael and Margaret.  Wondering if this John was another of the elder Ryan/Tynan family who were born before the baptism records start?

I would love to know where Bridget once lived, or where Margaret and Michael Ryans grave is?  Weirdly my husband and I have been to the Moyaliff cemetery, spending some time there before I knew this was likely the burial ground of my ancestors.  Now I will return with new eyes on and will explore more fully.

I look forwards to the visit and if anyone has any information of this Ryan family (yes, I know how common this name is!), well I would love any information.

There was a John Ryan and wife, Anne, living in Moyaliff in 1901 and they named their eldest children Michael and Margaret.  I am wondering if he was another of the older siblings who missed the baptism records?  If anyone recognises this family or any descendants still in the area I would really like to know more.  I thank those who have helped me in the past with grave names. Be there in June/July

kindest regards
