Middleton/Maxwell emmigrated to NZ 1861

I recognise Ruth Ell as a descendant of Carlyon Middleton Rickman, son of Catherine Kitty (Midldleton) Rickman. I am a grandson of her brother Henry Joseph Middleton., my father being Norman Ralph Middleton.

While I have little further to add to information on either Henry or Catherine (Maxwell) in Ireland, I do have a couple of deductions.

Henry, son of Henry, a farmer, may have been from the district of Lisbryan, including Lisbryan House. This is consistent with his claim to be from Ballingarry, the description of 'farm labourer' and his skills as a blacksmith. An unconfirmed entry in land data for '? Middleton' could provide a linlk.

Catherine Maxwell, daughter of Edward and Jane  (Cavanagh) Maxwell is equally mysterious. Again land data suggests her father may have been the land tenant described in Kyletombrickane, also near her claimed origin of Borrisokane.

I have only recently achieved contacts with descendants of James Edward Fitzgerald Middleton, and Charlotte Elizabeth (Middleton) Denholm, which have expanded considerably the shared knoweldge of the New Zealand Middleton descendants.

I would be pleased to share further informatin with you. Gradually, over this year, I have begun to find that there are actually living relatives!
