My great aunt, Maude Helson, wrote a genealogical history of her mother's family in 1920.  According to her, her great grandparents, JOHN BOYLE, SR. and NORA (MOLLY) McLAUGHLIN had a child named JOHN BOYLE, JR. in Co. Limmerick on January 6, 1798.  Her great-grandfather, John, Sr., was taken by a British chain gang in 1800.  After that, her great-grandmother, Nora McLaughlin Boyle and her son, John, Jr., moved in with her brother, FATHER McLAUGHLIN, in NENAGH, where she kept his house. In about 1822, JOHN BOYLE JR. and BRIDGET QUIRK,were married in TOMMYVARA,  Co. Limmerick.  In 1825, John and Bridget Quirk Boyle and their sons, Daniel Boyle (1823) and Patrick Boyle (1825) moved to New York City, New York.

Can anyone verify any of this information?

Thank you for your help.

  • Hi

You could try checking the land records called the Tithe Applotment Books (1823-38) http://titheapplotmentbooks.nationalarchives.ie/search/tab/home.jsp

    or the later Griffith's Valuation (1848-64) http://www.askaboutireland.ie/griffith-valuation/

or the Church of Latter Day Saints (LDS) https://familysearch.org/ for these relatives.

Failte Romhat has lots of other useful links you could try looking at ). www.failteromhat.com

You might also try http://www.irishtimes.com/ancestor/browse/counties/munster/index_ti.htm… to BROWSE information regarding records availability for County Tipperary.

Remember to post as much information as you can regarding the people you are researching. The more information you post, the more likely it is that one of our volunteers will be able to advise or assist you. Also include information concerning which sources you may have already used so others may further your search.

Please make sure you link anyone else in your family who is interested in their Irish heritage to our site - and indeed anyone else you know of Irish heritage.

    Kind regards,
