Looking for the family grave of my great grandfather;

John Ryan (1841-1913) his wife Catherine (O'Donnell) Ryan of Lattin (1847-1929), they married in Lattin RC Church (1866)

Also the three children who stayed on the farm unmarried in Ballycohey.

William Ryan (1870-1941) Mary Ryan (1872- )(Bridget Ryan (1877- ).

I've attached their 1901 census form.Ryans Ballycohey 1901.pdf

It would be an early 20thC family grave in one of the local graveyards, Shronell, Lattin, or possibly Solohead?

Also, would like to confirm if this is indeed the same 'John Ryan' as on the Battle of Ballycohey 1868 monument, where every male householder in Ballycohey townland is memorialised. The only thing we ever heard within the family was that 'the women were involved in smuggling weapons away afterwards', but this particular Ryan line went into the Dublin pub trade, married very late, had very few children, and didnt leave any stories behind.

  • I am reading a great book about the Battle of Ballycohy by Peter O’Grady.  My fathers great uncle is Michael Hanley, also on the 1868 monument.
