hi Everyone
I am looking to find my irish ancestors all I have to go on is a letter written many years ago that says ' "fathers brothers went to the school next to the police barrack in the Glen of Aherlow and afterwards to Rosshog" this was written by JOHN MAGUIRE'S [c1840] son.
The names of this family were
parents BRIDGET BRUTIN she married twice but don't know who was the first husband so the husbands are
HEFFERNAN - their sons are WILLIAM and MICHAEL [ could be spelt HEFFERNON ]
RICHARD McGUIRE also spelt MAGUIRE or M'GUIRE the sons are THOMAS c 1835 my ancestor who was transported to Perth Western Australia in 1858 and convicted in 1856 at the Old Bailey London according to his criminal record he was RC Illiterate and married though the marriage is not proved
JOHN c1840, emigratedto Victoria and married there in 1860 at age 20

The Glen of Aherlow is in the parish of Clonbeg...
The tithes applotment records 2 Heffernan's in the townland of Rosbeg... Rosbeg is the name of the townland your letter refers to..
The tithes applotment records can be viewed on line at www.nationalarchives.ie...
The griffith valuation which records all householders in 1850- 1858.. can be viewed in www.askaboutireland.ie.. The barony is Clanwilliam- Parish Clonbeg and Townland Rosbeg..
www.rootsireland.ie has some Aherlow & Galbally RC Church records..Some Aherlow residents, used the church in Bansha, so I would advise you check out both registers.
