Looking for info on a Jeremiah Joseph Kennedy (my great grandfather) born around 1848-1851. I believe he came to the United States abt 1853 and resided in New York. I'm not sure, but I believe his father was Timothy possibly from the area of Limerick. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

You could try looking at the church records in Toomevara to see if you can find any information. Unfortunately, records for the parish do not begin until 1830 so if this was where Timothy and Catherine were born you will be unable to find their birth records.
However, you should be able to find their marriage record. This may be helpful as sometimes they list the couple?s father?s names. You should also be able to find their children?s birth records which could be useful in terms of who was listed as sponsors as these were usually close family members or friends.
Most Catholic records are still held locally so it may be an idea to see if the local parish priest can help. I would advise ringing beforehand to make an appointment.
