You don’t say what denomination your family were. If RC, the parish records start in 1832 and are on-line free on the National Library site:

http://registers.nli.ie/parishes

Clougherny Church of Ireland have no records before 1859, Methodists 1832, Presbyterians 1865.

Do you know where in the parish your family lived? Perhaps you have a townland? Brown is obviously a very common name and anything that can narrow the search would help.

If the family were Episcopalian then, in Ireland, that’s Church of Ireland. So sadly their records for the period you need were lost in the 1922 fire in Dublin.

I looked in the current phone book for the Beragh area and I see one Brown listed. I can’t give you the details on this page because our policy is not to give out information on people who are living. However you can look it up yourself on this link. Search on postcode BT79.

There were 8 Brown families listed in Clogherny tithes in 1826. (Tithes were paid by people with land). See:

I searched Griffiths Valuation for Clogherny (1860) but did not see any Brown households listed, suggesting they may have left the area between 1826 and 1860.

If visiting the area, you could try Clogherny Church of Ireland graveyard for Brown gravestones.
