My GGG-grandfather, Terence Duross, was born in Kilskeery in 1825 and emigrated to Boston in about 1845. I learned this year that the family name was apparently Doorish in Ireland.  On Terence's U.S. marriage record, his parents are listed as Owen & Isabella. I would love to find any information on them. They also had a son named Charles, born in 1828, who also immigrated to Boston in the 1840s. I wonder if Owen & Isabella had any other children, who either came to the U.S. or stayed in Ireland.

    Welcome to Ireland Reaching Out!

Records for the RC parish of Kilskeery do not start until 1840 so it is unlikely that there is a church record for Terence if your Doorish family was RC.. I checked the 1859 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Kilskeery civil parish and there were three Doorish records including a Terence in Golan Glebe townland. http://www.failteromhat.com/griffiths/tyrone/kilskeery.htm

Maybe he was an uncle. In any event, this is likely where your family came from. I also looked at the 1901 census for Co. Tyrone and there were 16 Doorish records.including a family in Golan Glebe.
