Patrick McAleer and his wife Ann McElhone and three of their children Ellen, Bridget and Francis left Ireland for Canada in 1826.  I don't know where they lived in Ireland.  They settled in Cornwall Twp. Ontario and had four more children, Patrick, Ann, James and Andrew.  I'm hoping to find someone connected to this family.

  • Hi there,

Do you have any other information about them? A more precise location of origin would help greatly!

In the meantime, you might be interested to read the information about County Tyrone:

Please make sure you link anyone else in your family who is interested in their Irish heritage to our site - and indeed anyone else you know of Irish heritage.

    Kind regards,

  • Hello,

I believe we are related through Patrick and Hugh McAleer.  Hugh may have been a brother of your Patrick.  Hugh and Rose Mclear/mcaleer were godparents to one or two children on Patrick McAleer, Cornwall, Ontario.  One of Hugh's children was baptised in Cornwall, however the family moved west to Lambton County, Ontario sometime after 1833.  I would be interested in sharing information with you.  My Mary McLear Munholland's tombstone stated she was a native of County Tyrone, Ireland.  Mary McLear was a daughter of Hugh and Rose McLear.
