I am researching my GGGrandparents Samuel Hamilton born 1832 Ballygawley Parish (parents David Hamilton and Catherine Young, residence Meeting House St Ballygawley and I believe both are buried in Ballygawley) and Margaret McCallion born 1839, residence at the time of her marriage Errigal Keerogue (parents James McCallion and Jane Wilson).
Samuel Hamilton and Margaret McCallion were married on 11 April 1860.
Taken from the Extract of Entry: Registra's District of Clogher. Marriage solemnized at Aughnacloy Meeting House in the Parish of Canteel in Co of Tyrone.
Samuel, Margaret and their children Samuel, Margaret and William left Ireland for Australia in 1869. Name of ship 'Electric'.
I have traced some siblings of Samuel that also came to Australia: David, William, Margaret and Eliza Hamilton but feel sure there are others to find.
I do hope that someone can be of assistance in my research. I have some information on the Hamilton family but very little on the McCallion family.

Church Records:
Prior to 1864, all births, deaths and marriages were recorded by the local parish priest. Most Catholic records are held locally so you may need to write to the local parish priest for possible assistance. One website that you may find useful is the Irish Times where they give an overview of what records are available in specific parishes. It also shows you where copies of the records are available. For Errigal Keerogue parish, follow this link:
Most surviving Church of Ireland records are still held by the local clergy, although some are in the National Archives of Ireland and others are in the Representative Church Body Library in Dublin. Here are their websites: http://www.nationalarchives.ie/ and http://ireland.anglican.org/about/42
Lists of these surviving registers can also be found at the National Library of Ireland.
Civil Records:
Civil registration began in Ireland in 1864 so any births, deaths or marriages in the family after this date would be recorded in these records. Civil records are available from the General Register?s Office in Dublin. Here is their website:
