I'm looking for information on the family of Rosanna CLARK,from Strabane,Co.Tyrone.She was born in C1830 in Strabane, and died in Ballarat,Victoria,Australia in 1908.Her parents were John CLARK and Martha HARPER,also from Strabane.(Source-Griffiths Valuations.)

Rosanna emigrated to Geelong,Victoria aged 22 on the ship the "James T.Foord." in Dec.1852.(Source-

Victorian Shipping  Passenger  Lists.)

She married John Preston in 1854;they had a large family of 12 children and settled near Geelong.

John Preston's family's arrival in Geelong  in 1844 on the "Abberton" has been very well documented in the Preston family history in Australia, but I would love to learn more about Rosanna Clark's family in Strabane,as very little is known about them.

  • Hi,

Our volunteer, Jim, has come back with the following:

I don't have any direct evidence relating to John Clark and Rosanna.  However, I have been to www.cotyroneirland.com and looked under "Births" and then "Camus Parish".

This lists records that I have transcribed in the past and includes the following christening/births to John Clarke and Rosanna:

Harriet christened on 17th September 1819

Ellen born on 4th August 1834

From what magicmarg has said in the message you sent me these may be a close relations and are worth following up.

I have also been to the Latter Day Saints Family Search website and found lots of John Clarke's but none seem fit the information provided.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

    Best wishes

    Jim.
