I am searching for my Davey ancestors.  I know they came from County Tyrone, but not which parish.  John Davey was born c. 1813 with possible wife's name, Sally.  There son's John and Thomas were born in Cumberland, England where they had migrated to work in the Iron mines, so possibly they were miners in Ireland.  The family later migrated to Mayfield, Lakawanna County, Pennsylvania, USA where they worked in the coal mines.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

  • Hi Donna

    There are 6 birth baptism records for John Davey 1813 + - 5 years on www.rootsireland.ie/ but none from Tyrone. 3 are from Down (1813, 1816 & 1817) 1 Cavan 1 Sligo 1 Antrim

The parish of all the Down records is LOUGHINISLAND RC

There are 83 Daveys in the Tithe Applotments 1823-37 but none in Tyrone - most are Sligo & Galway.

A couple of public member trees on ancestry (Dickson) have his birthplace as Northern Ireland & his wife as Catherine

PRONI has some early Davey records in the name search - in Antrim Down & Louth
