My great grandmother Mary Ann Burrows was born in County Tyrone around 1862. She married my great  grandfather William James Campbell in Belfast at Ekenhead Presbyterian Church on 10 March 1888. Her fathers name was John Burrows and she had a sister Elizabeth Burrows Gass. MaryAnn died from 39 Kensington St. Bellfast at age 62 on 21 January 1926. She was buried at Bellfast Cemetery. I really would like too find information on the Burrows family and Mary Ann's birthdate and birth place . Thank you for any help.

  • Mary Ann Burrow?s birth is before the start of statutory birth registration in Ireland (1864) so you won?t get a birth certificate for her. You might find a baptism but to do that you really need to know which church she was baptised in. Some Presbyterian records are on-line but many are not. Copies of most are held in PRONI in Belfast but a personal visit is required to view them.

Presbyterian marriages were recorded in the statutory records from April 1845 onwards. I searched for marriages in Tyrone to John Burrows. There are two registered in Cookstown in 1846 and 1852, and 2 in Dungannon 1853 & 1854. Without knowing his bride?s name, I have no way of knowing which is correct. However if you have no other clues you could focus your search for Mary Ann?s baptism on Presbyterian churches in those two areas. (There are quite a few Presbyterian churches in those two catchment areas though).

Whar about her sister Elizabeth? Where did she marry? Any clues there?
